12 injured in early morning accident

The driver of the light motor vehicle fortunately did not sustain any injuries.

Twelve people have been injured this morning following a collision between a taxi and light motor vehicle on the N1 Highway under the Maraisburg Bridge.

Paramedics from ER24 were called to the scene by motorists that had witnessed the collision.

Once on scene, paramedics found the taxi had come to rest in the fast lane after it had collided with a light motor vehicle.

Occupants from the taxi were found seated on the roadside barrier.

On assessment, paramedics found that 12 people from the taxi had sustained only minor injuries in the collision. No serious injuries were reported on scene.

Paramedics treated the patients and thereafter transported them to various hospitals for further treatment.

The driver of the light motor vehicle did not sustain any injuries.

Local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
