Jaws of Life used in collision

Man in serious condition after collision.

Jaws of Life had to be used when a man was trapped in a bakkie after a head on collision with a truck.

The accident occurred along Hole-in-one Avenue in Ruimsig. Reports from the scene indicate that one of the vehicles slid on an oil patch from another crash a few meters away.

Netcare rescue unit was dispatched to the scene.

Paramedics arrived on scene and found that the man was still trapped in the twisted frame of his bakkie that was wedged under the front end of the truck.

Paramedics stabilised the man after Jaws of Life was used and was treated at the scene before medics transported him to a nearby hospital.

Authorities were on the scene to investigate.
