Pensioner tied up for two hours

Robbers scale the wall of an occupied premises.

Yesterday afternoon a Witpoortjie pensioner was tied up in her home during an armed robbery.

Three armed robbers jumped over a wall of an unoccupied premises bordering Trezona Avenue behind Bastion Avenue at around noon and broke the  sliding door of the victim’s house. Once inside the house they tied up the elderly woman and ransacked the home. The woman’s husband was not at home.

According to Frik van Zyl, member of the West Suburbs Roodepoort Neighbourhood Watch (WSRNW) the neighbours, also members of WSRNW, became suspicious and raised the alarm. The victim’s husband came to her rescue at around 2pm.

The woman was not injured.
