JRA delivers on barrier promise

Barriers fixed, extended a month after complaints.

Within a month the Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) delivered on their promise of extending the safety barriers on Albertina Sisulu Road in Florida.

On 21 January the Record reported landlady Maria Botha was at her wit’s end, after yet another accident on the troublesome road caused extensive damage to a townhouse she lets. Its wall was also bulldozed by the smashed vehicle, all damages considered, costing her R70 000 in repairs. The problem was that barriers, installed to curb the damage caused by out-of-control vehicles, didn’t extend far enough. Furthermore, existing barriers were bent beyond repair.

The quick intervention of Florida CPF member and aspiring candidate in the ward, Caleb Finn was just what the doctor ordered. Contacting the JRA himself, he and dedicated inspection and technical teams at the JRA ensured the issue is sorted out within a month.

“A special thanks must be extended to JJ le Roux from the JRA’s Traffic Engineering department, as well as the team at the depot in Hamberg who processed our request so quickly,” Finn said.
