The guide to this weekend's Super Rugby fixtures

The 21st Super Rugby competition kicks off next weekend. The competition has been extended from 15 to 18 teams with Argentina’s Jaguares, Japan’s Sunwolves and South Africa’s Southern Kings joining the fray.

This is the first season teams outside Australia, New Zealand and South Africa will feature There will also be four conferences instead of three.

The round-robin games will take place every weekend from 26 February to 16 July (with a break for international matches during June), followed by the finals series at the end of July and culminating in the final on 6 August.

The finals will be an eight-team format, with the winners of each conference guaranteed a top four spot.

The bottom four of the top eight will be made up by three of the remaining best-performing Australasian sides, and the next best teams from either African conference.
