Ready, set, register — IEC

Registration weekend is a mere 10 days away.

The Independent Electoral Commission has set Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 March as their first official registration weekend in Roodepoort.

From 8am to 5pm voting stations will be open to residents to register for the first time or update their details. Residents who have turned 18 since the previous elections in 2014 are encouraged to register to vote. Those who have moved residences since the previous elections also need to update their registration details at these stations.

To vote, one must be a South African citizen older than 18 and possess a green, bar-coded ID book or smart ID card or valid temporary ID certificate. One can only vote in the district you live in and at the station you’ve registered to.

The IEC recommends visiting their map on maps.elections.org.za/vsfinder/ and submitting your exact street address in order to identify your correct voting station and get details.
