Dressed up and ready to picnic

WELTEVREDEN PARK – Agape Christian School pupils dress to impress on Valentine's Day.

Agape Christian School  in Weltevreden Park celebrated Valentine’s Day with its tradition of dressing in red and white and enjoying a picnic. Owners of the school, Clarence and Theresa Jennings, said this year’s event was even more special because of their school’s 20th anniversary.

“Today’s pupils see Valentine’s Day as one of the most exciting days of the year. Realising this, we as a school make it a special day for the pupils. We encourage the pupils to dress up in red and white and there are monetary prizes for the smartest and funniest dressed pupil,” said Jennings. Pupils also brought picnic baskets for lunch, which were decorated at home beforehand. “The pupils receive prizes for the most elegant and funniest basket. The pupils themselves judge the entries by a round of applause.”

Pupil Kai Mahlalela won the prize for the best basket and Matthew Sheen walked away with the best dressed prize.
