Woman heartbroken over missing family member

Help Michelle Koopman find her dearest Max.

A heartbroken Michelle Koopman is searching for her lost pet dog Max.

The Jack Russel escaped outdoors while Koopman was at work on Tuesday.

She has searched her Florida neighbourhood and fears for his safety.

Max was never allowed out into the street without his leash.

“It was Tuesday afternoon in Rail Street when Max went missing. I have searched surrounding neighbourhoods and heard he was spotted around the Unified Train station area playing with children outside a school,” she said.

Koopman lovingly described Max as part of the family.

“He is rambunctious and tenacious. For a little guy, he amazed me with his daring and intelligent curiosity, typical of his breed. Aptly named after the brave character Maximus from the movie Gladiator for obvious reasons,” she said.

Koopman got Max while he was an inquisitive energetic young pup who quickly fit in.

“He didn’t want to sleep on his blanket and rather preferred to sleep atop of Marley’s back, an adopted SPCA Labrador, until he grew too big. He is confident, friendly, playful and very clever. Max and Marley are kindred spirits and often got up to mischief. They chewed several of their collars off each other, chewed curtains off window rails, haggled for tidbits from the kitchen, chased after birds and each other but importantly gave me so much joy and warmed my heart each day. Without him, Marley and I are devastated,” said Koopman.

She added that animals are a gift and that bring their owners immense joy.

“We smile at their antics and enjoy their individual personalities. Thus reminding us how to love unconditionally and laugh loudly. Let us support and adopt our pets from local SPCA’s, remember to have them wear identity tags and have chips inserted in case they lose their tags like Max’s did. We would love to have him back and watch him grow up. He is sadly missed,” she said.
