Cigarette van hijacked in Witpoortjie

Van delivering cigarettes at café.

At around 10am this morning (9 February) another British American Tobacco (Bat) van was hijacked – this time in Witpoortjie.

The van stopped at the Nevada café at the corner of Hulley Road and Mc Grath Avenue when six armed suspects in a blue BMW pounced on it. They the fled with the van and abandoned it in Krugersdorp. They escaped with all the cigarettes which they loaded into a bakkie.

Dowry Security officers allong with Fidelity Guards officers found the empty bakkie in Kagiso.

A helicopter currently is searching for the suspects who are still at large.

This comes after another cigarette truck hijacking was foiled on Ontdekkers Road last Friday morning.
