19-year-old allegedly hit by vehicle on purpose

Mystery as to what happened.

A 19-year-old man allegedly was hit on purpose by a vehicle this past Friday evening.

According to Thumzile Mbela, the victim’s mother, when she arrived home at around 5pm her son, Vuyisini told her he was going to walk to the shop to buy bread. After about 30 minutes she heard hooting and shouting at the gate. It was a woman and two young men who told her to hurry as her son was going to die. She followed them in her vehicle to the corner of Adam Tas Street and Trezona Avenue where she found her son lying on the pavement. There was also a vehicle that seemed to have hit a perimeter wall.

Mbela said her son was dazed and confused and could not tell her what had happened. She kept on asking the man in the vehicle what happened but he refused to answer her. After a while he told her he thought her son had broken into his house but could not prove his accusation.

Vuyisini then said he could not breathe and when paramedics arrived they had to administer oxygen. On the way to the hospital he told them the vehicle had hit him on purpose.

According to Roodepoort Police spokesperson Nonhlanhla Khumalo a case of assault with the intention to do grievous bodily harm (GBH) was opened but no arrests have been made.

Anyone who witnessed the incident can contact Mbela on 072 179 9502.
