Cement truck ploughs into nine cars
Major accident closes off three lanes.
A code 11 cement truck crashed into nine vehicles on the N1 highway near the 14th Road off-ramp this morning.
According to investigators on scene the truck’s brakes failed.
This led to the truck hitting nine vehicles before it went over the embankment and into a ditch.
This led to three lanes in Weltevreden Park being closed. ER24 paramedics and other medical services were on scene and treated five patients for minor injuries while fire services and highway patrol began to remove and sweep up the cement spread across the scene.
The driver and passenger in the truck also sustained minor injuries.
All the patients were transported to various hospitals.
