Zuma to blame for lack of jobs – Maimane

JOBURG – Thousands take to the streets, as DA leader Mmusi Maimane blames unemployment on president.

DA leader Mmusi Maimane called out President Jacob Zuma on the delivery of jobs in South Africa, at the party’s ‘March for Jobs’ on 27 January.

DA leaders and supporters marched in the Johannesburg CBD from the corner of Ntemi Piliso and Anderson streets to the corner of Sauer and Jeppe streets to listen to their leader Maimane addressing the unemployment issue in SA.

The march was peaceful and orderly most of the time, although the crowd had to be called to order once or twice by DA leaders and the law enforcement present. SAPS, JMPD and the paramedics were on site to make sure that everything went accordingly.

Maimane led thousands of his supporters while they all chanted South African struggle songs.

When Maimane finally spoke his supporters were excited to see him. “We are here because we want jobs for the average South African,” said Maimane. He addressed education issues, saying that all South Africans must have an equal and fair chance at private education. “There must be equity in the hands of the ordinary citizen,” he said.

Maimane said that the DA went countywide to see how bad employment was and the only reason the situation is that way is because of President Jacob Zuma. “People are losing hope in the government and the government’s days are numbered,” he added.

A resident from Westbury, Khana Amod was in the crowd showing his support for the march. “I’m here to give support in the quest to bring awareness of unemployment especially among young people, ” said Amod. He added that the failure of the government is obvious and that all people deserve freedom, fairness and opportunities that the government is not providing.

Maimane said that the DA wants to be the voice of the poor and ordinary South Africans.
