GALLERY: Honeydew SAPS and CPF donate water

HONEYDEW – The Honeydew SAPS and CPF care about the drought-stricken parts of South Africa and donate over two tonnes of water.

The Honeydew SAPS alongside the CPF managed to collect 2 397 litres of water to contribute to the Roodepoort Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s (Rocci) water drive project on 22 January.

Honeydew Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Karen Jacobs approached the CPF public relations officer Jon Rosenberg to assist in collecting water for the Rocci water drive. Rosenberg felt that many people are at work during the time of the water drive, therefore he phoned Panorama Primary School’s principal to ask if they could be a drop-off point on 21 January. According to Rosenberg, they managed to raise a bakkie load of water in one hour.

“This project will be ongoing as many people contacted me to collect more water,” said Rosenberg. He promoted the water drive on Whatsapp groups as well as emails to CPF members. “The result was overwhelming, giving the short time period that we had to put this project together,” said Rosenberg. He further mentioned that he would possibly start a competition to challenge schools to collect more water.

After driving with two bakkie loads to the Rocci water drive, WO Jacobs returned with another load of 5-litre water bottles donated by a water company in Laser Park. The Spar at the Retail Crossing in Wilgeheuwel donated 22 25-litre water bottles to this cause.
