Hloni Motloung from the communications department at City Power explained that the outage in Randburg was caused by cable theft on corner Rabie Street and Martha Road in Fontainebleau..
Honeydew and Weltevreden Park were affected from the evening of 21 January. However, the power was restored during the evening until it tripped again in the morning. “By 9am electricity was already restored in all the suburbs in Randburg. The technicians are currently working on-site to restore power in Roodepoort,” he said.
He further explained that a feeder board to the substation tripped on Christian de Wet Road. “As we are talking now ,95 per cent of power is already restored in the Roodepoort area,” he concluded.
