RUIMSIG – The best performing teams in the Eagle 5 Soccer club received medals.

The Eagle 5 Soccer Club from Ruimsig Country Club (RCC) goes from strength to strength as teams compete in a fierce and entertaining league.

On 15 January the club held the league’s finals at RCC with teams from different divisions competing against each other .

It was the battle of the best, cheered on by a number of spectators who enjoyed the evening, hoping their teams would win the tournament.

Women’s and men’s teams competed in the finals and the winners were then awarded medals for their best performances.

The competition started as early as 7pm until just before midnight as some of the teams competed until extra time.

Club co-owner Steve Botha commended all the players and appealed to other teams that were still interested in joining, to contact him.

“We still need more teams, especially in the veteran’s and ladies’ leagues,” he said.

He further explained that the competition was tough and strong. “Today we sort of mixed the teams. You get teams in the veterans’ league division playing with the teams in the junior division,” he explained.

According to him, the mix-up helped young players experience playing with other teams from other divisions.

“The winners will receive their medals. Like today the team, which was in position four, beat the league leaders [and earned medals],” he concluded.
