Illegal power connections problem
ZANDSPRUIT – Illegal connections onto Eskom power lines in Zandspruit have been reported to Eskom.
Illegal connections have been connected to the power lines, spanning across and along Beyers Naudé Drive.
The illegal connections are in plain sight, running from various power lines into the Zandspruit Informal Settlement and connected to homes as well as shops. City Power spokesperson Sydney Mphahlele said that the power lines are the property of Eskom. It is believed that the illegal connections have been there for a while.
According to Eskom, the illegal connections have been reported on 14 January and it is being taken care of. Eskom could not say when the problem would be resolved.
