Update: Armed robbery hero out of hospital

First operation failed.

Conrad Jacobs who along with his 17-year-old son Tyler rushed to his neighbour’s aid during an armed robbery, had been released from hospital in December and is currently home.

Conrad and Tyler were home the morning of 24 November when they heard screaming from their elderly neighbour’s property. Without hesitating they ran towards the house but as they entered Conrad was shot in the stomach.

He was rushed to Millpark Hospital. The first operation had to be abandoned due to complications (his whole body started swelling) but a second operation was successful. The bullet which lodged in his pelvis could not be removed. Conrad was released on 19 December. He told the Record he is lucky there is no permanent debilitating damage but said it is still difficult to walk.

Doctors will have to decide when he can resume his normal life again.

Would he do it again?

“I would be more careful, but yes I would,” said Conrad.
