Sixteen nabbed in Roodepoort raid

Arrested for several crimes, including murder and assault.

At least 16 suspects were arrested during a special operation led by Roodepoort Police detectives last week.

On 7 January the detectives took to the streets to arrest suspects in connection with various open dockets, Roodepoort Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Nonhlanhla Khumalo said.

During the raid, four suspects were arrested for housebreaking and theft, one for murder, one for malicious damage to property, six for assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm and another four for theft.

The suspects, aged between 25 and 41, were detained and charged for various crimes at the Roodepoort Police Station and appeared in the Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court the following day, Friday 8 January.
