Artisans awarded for their excellence

The best of the best celebrated.

The Artisan Training Institute (ATI) recently recognised its top students with the Learner of the Year Awards 2015.

They provide training in engineering trades, including mechanical, electrical, electrical millwright, automotive and boilermaking and welding courses.

Typically courses are divided into three phases, the first lasting around 15 weeks, the second around 12 weeks and the third around eight weeks. During the ceremony, ATI recognised learners who rated highest in their respective categories.

“Be passionate about who you are, passionate about what you do and passionate about the lives you will change as well,” was the message of Richard Lewishead of corporate strategy at ATI, to clients, learners, management and staff at the ceremony.

The following students received awards:

• R Schutte was overall Learner of the Year

• M Njekula and S Rehman in Automotive Engineering

• T Dlamini in Auto Electrical Engineering

• J Moyo and D Mahlangu in Mechanical Engineering

• M van der Merwe and T Magadana as Riggers and Ropesmen

• W Mashabela and J Erasmus as Platers and Boilermakers

• R Mapila and T Downling in Electrical Engineering

• E de Beer and K Jawe in Measurement Control and Instrumentation

• R Pelser and R Schutte as Millwrights
