92 000 prospective students apply at UJ

AUCKLAND PARK – University of Johannesburg will not accept on-campus late applicants or walk-ins.

University of Johannesburg reminded all prospective students who applied to study at the institution that the entire application, acceptance and registration process would be handled online as universities get ready for the beginning of the 2016 academic year.

This includes late applications as the university will not, under any circumstances, accept on-campus late applications or walk-ins.

University spokesperson Herman Esterhuizen explained that 92 000 applicants applied to study for 2016 first-year graduate studies.

“UJ can only admit a limited number of students. The planned intake of undergraduate first-year students for 2016 is 10 500,” said Esterhuizen.

He further explained that late applicants would be able to submit their applications online from 11 January when the university had matched student acceptances with places available and determined where there is still available capacity for admitting additional students.

“Any potential student with a question that they cannot resolve online is welcome to make contact with the UJ call centre any time from now onwards. The number is 011 559 4555,” he said.

UJ would be home to nearly 50 000 students this year, including an expected 10 500 new students.
