A substantial amount of residents in the Ouklip and Piketsberg Streets area, spend the the better part of the night in anxiety after they heard what they believed to be 14 gunshots.
Since the early morning hours they tried to determine on social media what was going on. They phoned the police but complained that the police tarried for a long time and did not investigate properly. At about 4pm they were relieved when finally they received information that it was not gunshots, but as one resident put it, “drunk white trash shooting off firecrackers in Graphite Street”.
