WSRNW and Bikers deliver early Christmas presents

Under-privileged children in the area as well as the Floroma Old Age Home were treated this past weekend.

Christmas came early for the children of Witpoortjie when over 2000 presents were delivered to them on Saturday 28, November.

The Wicked Wheels Bikers Club in Krugersdorp partnered with the West Suburbs Roodepoort Neighbourhood Watch (WSRNW) to treat the less fortunate children in the area. Both of them contributed to making little gifts for the children which were collected via fundraising events they held throughout the year.

“The initiative to do a Christmas-drive started about five years ago by the WSRNW as a way to give back to the community,” said Frik van Zyl, Public Relations Officer (PRO) at WSRNW.

Each of the parcels included sweets and a toy for the children which were handed out by ‘Santa Clause’ in areas such as Groblerspark and Lindhaven.

After the parcels were safely delivered to the children, the two organisations headed out to Floroma Old Age and gave the residents at the home gifts as well.

“It was a good day for us as it turned out very successful,” said Neels Jonker from Wicked Wheels.

Frik also said it was priceless to see the children’s faces when they received their gifts from Santa and also when they were given a simple hug.

“Although it was small gift you could really see the appreciation on the children’s faces. We would also like to thank everyone involved who made this day a success for us,” he concluded.
