Petrol increases from 2 December

FERNDALE– Motorists should expect an increase in petrol prices from 2 December ahead of the festive season.

The petrol price will increase by one cent from 2 December following an announcement made by the Department of Energy on 27 November.

South Africa’s fuel prices are adjusted on a monthly basis that are informed by international and local factors. The Minister of Energy Tina Joemat–Petterson attributed the increased petrol prices to the weak rand against the US dollar.

Every year in December the Minister of Energy reviews and adjusts margins in terms of the fuel pricing regulatory framework. The Department of Energy urged motorists and all the households that use paraffin to use energy sparingly during these difficult economic conditions.
