Photo: Man publicly humiliated by police

Allegations of racism and substance abuse also leveled at officer.

A resident working close to Roodepoort Railway Station had to witness a disturbing display of public humiliation by a police officer this past Saturday.

According to the woman and her friend a police officer accused a man of carrying dagga on his person. After he searched him he ordered him to take off his trousers and underwear in full view of the public. They then cuffed him and took him to Roodepoort Police Station, but had to release him because they could not charge him for any transgressions.

The two eyewitnesses also allege that the officer is known to “be racist and a drug addict”.

The two women recorded the incident and took photos, but when the Record tried to retrieve the footage it corrupted. Every effort is currently being made to salvage the footage. The images have been handed over to Roodepoort Police for comment and further investigations.
