A man trying to cross Ontdekkers Road was declared dead on the scene after he was hit by a motorcycle.
He was heading towards the taxi rank opposite Westgate Shopping Centre and was hit a few meters away from the pedestrian crossing.
The motorcyclist tried to swerve away from the man but it was too late and he hit him, falling from his motorcycle on impact.
The Roodepoort fire department, JMPD and Help24 were immediately on scene to investigate.
The motorcyclist was taken to hospital by ER24 for moderate injuries.
