She said she entered the Miss SA pageant because it has always been her dream. “She is majestic and a role model. It would be my absolute honour to continue to be a role model and ambassador on such a large and well-respected scale,” Tayla said.

She believes the Miss SA title is definitely about beauty with a purpose. “The title represents a young woman who is not only pleasing to the eye, but more importantly someone who is beautiful on the inside. She is humble, kind and intelligent and she inspires and builds her community and country,” Tayla said.

She said the experience of being a finalists has been like none other. “The Miss SA team, Sun International and Cell C have really gone out of their way to look after us. To think that we have been chosen as finalists out of many hundreds of hopefuls is extremely humbling and exciting.”

Every now and then I take a trip to the Vaal River where I enjoy various water sports like skiing and wake surfing.”

The biggest lesson she have learnt about being a Miss SA finalist is that it is hard work. “Although it looks easy and may seem like a lot of fun, with that comes a lot of hard work, The finalists in the top 12 have really worked hard to be here and as we’ve learnt, hard work continues for Miss SA during her year of reign and beyond,” she said.

She added if she should win the crown, it will be a life-changing experience. “I have many people who have supported me throughout this journey. I will embrace every opportunity it offers.”

Tayla said she is passionate about people, dance, freedom of expression, children, animals, South Africa and its natural beauty, and she will celebrate her birthday on 20 December.
