Police put down guns and pick up toys for children

Children left smiling as they receive their gifts.

Armed with huge smiles and Christmas gifts, the Roodepoort Police Station’s Women’s Network members visited the children of St Laurence Children’s Haven this week.

The Women’s Network is an organization that falls under the station and is led by female police officers.

The officers had randomly chosen names on a list with the haven’s children so their gifts would be specific to each child’s personality.

“This is a real blessing in our home. It’s a wonderful experience for the children. Our visitors today have big hearts and are very friendly. They put thought into the gifts they brought and the children love the police,” said the haven’s Abigail Branders.
