Tyler was at home studying when around 9.30am he heard screams coming from the neighbouring property. He immediately jumped up to go investigate and shouted to his father, Conrad (43) to come with him. The father and son duo jumped over the property’s front wall and Tyler, thinking the neighbour was hurt, ran around to the back door. When he came around the corner of the house he heard voices inside and realised a crime was in progress. His father joined him and, as the two entered through the back door, with his dad leading, the robbers shot Conrad in the stomach.
“Although I panicked and the adrenaline was rushing through me, my thoughts were clear and focused,” said Tyler. “My father shouted to me that I must flee and, because the robbers fled over another wall, I feared for my grandmother’s life, worried the robbers might go into our house,” explained Tyler.
However, the nine (according to Tyler and his neighbour) robbers were gone and by that time the security had already called the police.
“I am much more aware now,” Tyler concluded.
Tyler’s father is still at Millpark Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit, but his life is out of danger.
