How parfait is your dessert?

Make your own parfait today.

The word parfait means perfect in French and is a frozen dessert made from a base of sugar syrup, egg, and cream.

Parfaits were invented back in 1894. At that time they tasted like coffee and it was a frozen treat. Eventually, people added various ingredients and layered the ice cream dessert with fruit syrups and liqueurs.

This dessert dish was originally served on decorative plates and today they are typically layered in tall, thin glasses.

All parfaits are not desserts, as some are savoury dishes made of seafood and vegetables

The ingredients contained in a yogurt parfait are, however also not exactly healthy because a lot of unnecessary sugars are usually found in this food. Restaurants are believed to add sugar to a parfait to enhance the flavor.
