Dancing girls are the West’s Best

Two West Rand dancers win big at awards.

Wilcarina and Annebelle School of Dancing’s pupils Tylo Maritz, and Daniella Venter recently received top accolades at the National Eisteddfod Academy Dance competitions that were held throughout Gauteng.

The girls were awarded the Prestigious Award for overall best senior and junior in Western Gauteng.

They competed in the competitions in ballet, Spanish dancing and contemporary/jazz.

Tylo received gold medals in contemporary solo and classical ballet and was given the Ambassador award for demi character solo, classical ballet and Spanish dance.

In the Roodepoort Dance Festival she was the all round winner in the 15 – 17-year-old ballet, Spanish dance, and contemporary/jazz.

She received bursaries for the most promising ballet dancer most promising contemporary/jazz dancer.

In the festival she was awarded trophies for best Spanish solo over 13-years-old, best personality, highest percentage score achieved in ballet and Spanish dance, as well as the highest average percentage achieved at the entire festival, including tap, hip hop and contemporary/jazz.

She was also awarded the best Contemporary/jazz dancer over 13-years-old.

Daniella received an Ambassador’s award for her demi character ballet solo.

In the Roodepoort Dance Festival, she was all round winner for ballet and Spanish dance, for ages 13 – 15-years-old.
