Jesse hopes to join your family

Cute Irish Terrier but one of many dogs and cats hoping to join a Roodepoort family soon.

For some reason Jesse has not been scooped up yet by a family hoping to add a set of paws to the household.

She’s an Irish Terrier with a beautiful coat and the energy of a teenager, according to Roodepoort SPCA receptionist Michelle Kok, despite being a full six years old.

In kennel E60 she pranced around when the Record visited, eager to play and please. Michelle said she’s least likely, of the dogs up for adoption at their kennels, to be adopted because of her age.

“It is a general struggle at any shelter or animal organisation to get a ‘senior’, such as the energetic Jesse, adopted.

“People don’t seem to understand dogs at this age are usually still full of life and would make a great pet, given the chance,” she said.

To meet Jesse and other dogs that would love a new home, visit the Roodepoort SPCA in Nadine Street, Maraisburg. To adopt a dog costs R600, a kitten is R550 and a cat R400. The fee includes sterilisation, first vaccination, rabies vaccination and deworming of the animal, along with a microchip and ID tag.
