13 scary facts about Friday the 13th

Famous rapper Tupac Shakur was killed on Friday the 13th.

If you fear Friday the 13th then you possibly suffer from paraskavedekatriaphobia which is also known as friggatriskaidekaphobia.

Friday the 13th, also known as Black Friday, is considered an unlucky day in Western superstition.

On this day many people are afraid to drive on the road or go to any event.

Here are a few freaky facts you may not have known about this day:

1. Hotels and hospitals around the world often skip the 13th floor, and it is believed airports quietly omit gate 13 sometimes.

2. Apparently friggatriskaidekaphobia affects millions of people and there is speculation that businesses and airlines suffer from severe losses on Friday the 13th.

3. An online article states a psychotherapist, who specializes in the treatment of phobias, asserts that 21 million Americans fear Friday the 13th.

4. President Franklin D. Roosevelt is said to have avoided travel on the 13th day of any month, and would never host 13 guests at a meal.

5.For a month to have a Friday the 13th, the month must begin on a Sunday.

6. Some people believe the fear of Friday the 13th goes back to the Garden of Eden. Supposedly Eve offered Adam the forbidden fruit on a Friday.

7. Friday the 13th is not universally seen as a day of misery. For example, in Italy, Friday the 17th and not Friday the 13th is considered to be a day that brings bad luck. In fact, the number 13 is considered to be a lucky number!

8. Many studies have shown that Friday the 13th has little or no effect on events like accidents, hospital visits and natural disasters.

9. Since 1995, Finland has dedicated one Friday the 13th in a year by celebrating National Accident Day. The day aims to raise awareness about safety – on the roads, at home and at the workplace.

10. Many people believe there are a number of things you can do to ward off ill fate. The things you can do is: Touch wood, cross your fingers, avoid black cats and throw salt over each shoulder.

11. According to an online report, the risk of being in a car crash on any Friday is higher than other days of the week.

12. There cannot be more than three Friday the 13th’s in a year.

13. The ancient Chinese and Egyptions regarded the number 13 as lucky and believed the number 13 brought good luck.
