Today Bahá’u’lláh is remembered

This is a non-working day for Baha’i’s.

The birth of the Bahá’í faith’s founder Bahá’u’lláh, meaning Glory of God, is celebrated among all Bahá’ís today.

Bahá’u’lláh is believed to have suffered 40 years of imprisonment, torture and exile for bringing God’s latest message to humanity.

Gardens are a requirement for Bahá’í Houses of Worship and although each of them has a unique style, they all have four basic requirements. The requirements are: they are circular shape, have nine sides, a dome, and are surrounded by nine gardens with walkways.

Bahá’i’s do not have guidelines for celebrations or prayers. The day is celebrated in a spirit of unity and peace in homes, public buildings, or any Baha’i center or house or worship.

Quick facts about the Bahá’i faith:

• The Bahá’í world community has more than 5 million members worldwide.

• It is the second-most widespread independent world religion, after Christianity.

• The Bahá’í Faith was established in Canada in 1898.

• Universal education and the equality of men and women are among the principles revealed by Bahá’u’lláh.
