Dog dies after alleged poisoning

He suspects the dog may have been poisoned.

Witpoortjie resident Sam Madube was heartbroken as he woke up on Friday morning to find his dog had died.

Madube said he suspects dog poisoning as there were no signs of illness or abnormal behaviour that would lead him to believe there could be another cause

With the festive season drawing near and houses being targeted for robbery, he suspects the dog may have been poisoned and wants to warn his neigbours that their dogs may too be targeted. This is not the first time Madube’s home has been targeted, his gold plated numbers as well as other equipment in his yard has been stolen before.

“I am completely heartbroken that this would happen. I am not sure who would do this. Our house has been targeted by robbers but that was before I had dogs. After I got one we lived in peace,” he said.

Just a day before the incident, Madube had given away a puppy to the SPCA as he does not like to give away animals to people who might not give them proper care. He will wait until gets further confirmation that the dog died of poisoning before opening a case with the police.
