RUIMSIG – Maragon High hosts Christmas tea for four old age homes.

Ruimsig Maragon Private Schools High School‘s Grade 10 pupils hosted a Christmas tea on 21 October, for four old age homes.

Marketing manager of Maragon Private Schools Belinda Espag said pupils were in charge of decorating the tables.

Grade 10 pupil Sharissa Krause said they wanted the tables to look beautiful and the elderly people were impressed.

“Residents of Mug and Tree Community Care Centre, Floroma Old Age Home, Môreglans Old Age Home and the Roodepoort Centre for the Elderly were spoiled with Christmas treats, food and drinks,” said Krause.

She added that some students performed songs, poems, dances and acts to entertain the elderly.

“The Maragon School choir also showed their salt’s worth with a performance of the song I Lived and Grade 9 and 10 pupils performed Superman,”said Krause.

Krause said the children were initially nervous but the warmheartedness they were treated with soon made them feel at ease. Senior citizens embraced the children with love and enjoyed their company.

She concluded and added that the event was a major success and a perfect opportunity for the teenagers to bridge the generation gap between the elderly and themselves.
