Three police officers of the Honeydew Police Station were honoured with Special Recognition Awards on 3 November.
CPF chairperson Tony Botes said an officer who performs above average is selected every month to receive this award.
Botes said the selected officer receives a small trophy, a meal voucher and the honour to have their names engraved on the Goodwill Shield that is kept at the Honeydew Police Station.
Botes explained that three officers were awarded on 3 November, because there wasn’t an awards ceremony in October.
He also said during September there were two officers selected, instead of just one, as they both performed above average.
Station Commander Colonel Tobie Terblanche said Constable Lassie Ngobeni and Constable Rhulani Makhuvele were selected for their performance during September.
Terblanche said Const Ngobeni and Const Makhuvele were selected for their efforts in a case of robbery.
“The two constables managed to track down a car that was involved in a house breaking and robbery, and they recovered cash and an unlicensed firearm from the suspect,” said Terblanche.
Terblanche said the third officer Constable Bongani Ngcobo who was selected for October, was also chosen for his performance during a case where he recovered an unlicensed firearm.
“He also managed to arrest two of four suspects who were involved in a robbery,”said Terblanche
Station Commander said he is very proud of the three police officers and hope their example will encourage others.
Ngobo said he feels very honoured to have received the award and will continue to work hard.
CPF public relations officer Jon Rosenberg expressed his gratitude to Roco Mamas and John Dorys for the meal vouchers they donated and asked other restaurants to join in rewarding police for their efforts.
