Meet Die Adelaar’s new school leaders

Hoërskool Die Adelaar selected it's new RCL members for 2016.

Hoërskool Die Adelaar selected its new Representative Council of Learners (RCL) this week.

They were selected at a camp and the 38 pupils were accompanied by three teachers to oversee the process.

The mission of the RCL is to build a relationship between the pupils and teachers.

They are also in charge of bringing unity to the school and becoming ambassadors who will become positive examples to the rest of the pupils.

“We’ve had pupils who are humble, dedicated and determined to bring a positive change to the school within the RCL. The new group will do even better than their predecessors,” said the RCL organisor Marc January.

Wandile Tshabalala was selected to become the president of the council and he was awestruck when his name was announced.

Wandile attended the camp despite his grandfather passing away on Thursday, a day before the selection camp.

“I thought I would not get a chance. I was feeling down because of my grandfather but I tried to show a positive spirit despite how I felt. To be the president feels great and I still can’t believe it. My goals are to make positive changes to the school,” he said.

Tshabalala was also selected to become the School Governing Body (SGB) representative along with his first vice president Mbali Twala and Leroy Molapi.

Assisting the two will be second vice president Ruth Akintola, secretary Boineelo Phiri, treasurer Tidimalo Pilane, PRO Sipho Mdluli.
