Challenge yourself through kickboxing

LITTLE FALLS – Quickfire kickboxing classes teach men, women and children self-defence and builds confidence.

There are a number of ways to get into shape while also learning how to improve your self-defence skills. Quickfire is a 30-minute kickboxing fitness workout in Little Falls that will help you lose weight fast and get into great shape.

Quickfire co-owner Mageshlen Govender established it in October and already has over 75 people who have joined the energetic kickboxing classes. Govender said he opened the kickboxing classes for women who are looking for self-empowerment – how to handle themselves in potentially dangerous situations in their areas.

Together with Danny Naidoo who has 35 years’ experience along with Wade Rendall who has 18 years’ experience in kickboxing, they wanted to create a place where women and children can be trained by professionals and not feel intimidated.

Govender, who is an experienced nutritionist, also has a kids programme starting from six to 18 years. “We have a kids programme in place to address the high obesity rate of children in our community,” he said.

He also said that Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder is linked to children eating food with high levels of sugar and fat in their diet. He compiled a diet for his son who was diagnosed with ADHD and decided to enrol him in kickboxing classes. His efforts prevented his son from taking Ritalin due to his change in lifestyle.

The kickboxing workouts help build children’s self-confidence and instil a discipline of taking care of themselves in their daily lives.

“Children are taught basic movements, coordination and flexibility that helps with their growth and development. I also compiled an eating plan for my clients to follow and encourage them to eat the right kind of food,” he said.

Quickfire is open seven days a week from 7am to 8pm on weekdays and Saturdays from 7am to 12pm.
