Here’s how your innovative solution can be funded by CoJ

R50m in funding available to innovative residents willing to enhance service delivery.

Your next innovative solution to service delivery problems could be selected by the Jozi My Beginning Fund for development.

The fund has been reaching out to communities citywide over the course of October for new innovative ideas in products and services that would enhance neighbourhoods. At least R50 million is available to such projects, the fund being a branch of Jozi@work.

“The fund would like to support these new ideas as Jozi@work projects,” it said in a recent press release.

“We want to develop and fund such creativity through an open and competitive process.

“An independent panel will evaluate all project concepts submitted.”

The city has partnered with the University of Johannesburg’s (UJ)’s entity Resolution Circle to administrate the fund, handle submissions, shortlist, evaluate and support hopefuls as a sector expert.

The deadline for submitting an idea is 11 November 2015 at 12 noon. Entry forms can either be completed online at https://www.jozimybeginning.co.za/ or fetched from and submitted to the Region C office. Certain funded projects could also be considered to be proofs of concept for new ways to deliver municipal services. On that basis, implementers could later compete in the market to supply the innovation to the City of Johannesburg (CoJ) via an open tender.

Applicants must be willing to implement their innovations themselves should it be approved as approval is not transferable to other entities or individuals. Other terms and conditions also apply. More information on the entry form.

For more information contact the Region C office on 011 761 0348 or visit them at the Roodepoort Civic Centre, 100 Christiaan De Wet Road, Florida Park.
