Video and Photo: Hosepipe, fists and racist remarks fly at Witpoortjie Garage

Spot at pump leads to confrontation.

Just before noon today a scuffle broke out between a young man, a taxi driver and some of his passengers after there was a disagreement at a Witpoortjie petrol station over a petrol pump.

The female motorist felt the taxi ‘stole’ her rightful spot and first a war of words between her, her male passenger and the taxi driver broke out. According to bystanders the young man then called the taxi driver a racist term and proceeded to get out of the vehicle with what looked like a piece of hosepipe. The taxi driver, being up for the fight got out and the young man chased after him. He managed to hit him with the hose but when one of the taxi driver’s passengers decided to join in he tried to flee. They caught up with him and fists flew again with the young man this time being at the receiving end.

A man from the carwash at the garage attempted to calm down tempers and advised the taxi driver to rather leave.
