Say no to bullying

By age 14 less than 30% of boys and 40% of girls will talk to their peers about bullying.

Unity Day is celebrated all over the world to promote awareness against bullying.

On this day, people from different schools, communities and businesses wear orange to show their support for students who have either been bullied or who are still being bullied.

Here are facts about bullying you need to know:

• According to research conducted annually, half of all children are bullied at some time during their school years.

• Girls bully in groups more than boys do

• When boys bully, they tend to use more threats and physical intimidation on both boys and girls

• Many adults who were bullying victims report that over time, their feelings of unhappiness and shame decreased.

• The average amount of time a bulling episode lasts for is 37 seconds

• Approximately 160,000 teenagers in the world skip school every day because of bullying.

• One in four teachers see nothing wrong with bullying and will only intervene 4% of the time.

Support unity day and wear something orange.
