Celebrating the Birth of the Bab

Today is a holy day for all Bahai's.

On October 20 of each year, Baha’is around the world celebrate the birth of one of the founders of their faith.

According to an online article, there are six million Bahá’ís in the world and today they are expected to suspend their work for the day if possible.

The Báb, who is likened to John the Baptist, called on people to purify themselves for the coming of the messenger of God.

There is no tradition in which the birth of the Báb is celebrated. However, apart from abstaining from doing work, they start their day off with prayers and devotional readings.

The Record would like to wish all our Bahai readers well over this period.
