Billing dates to be corrected

Municipal statements' dates to be corrected immediately, according to CoJ.

Residents who have been struggling to comply with earlier bill due dates from the City of Johannesburg (CoJ) can rest assured it will be amended.

This according to Ward 71 councillor Gert Niemand, who shared the information with the Record. Kgamanyane Maphologela, the director of communications and stakeholder management at CoJ, apologised for the mix-up in a recent press release.

“The City of Johannesburg regrets causing any inconvenience to its customers who received incorrect pre-termination notices as a result of change in their due dates for payment of services during the past two months,” it stated.

“This was due to the implementation of the new credit control policy which was amended recently,” Maphologela explained.

“CoJ realises that the change should have been communicated better beforehand and regret any inconvenience experienced by customers.”

All charges relating to the issuing of pre-termination notices on this bases will be reversed, Maphologela promised. He encourages customers to pay their municipal bills as per normal due dates.

“Our team has arranged to work around the clock to ensure that this happens as soon as possible.”
