Get crime savvy at fun day

Join the Horizon View Block Watch next month for charity.

The Horizon View Block Watch, in partnership with Netvance Properties, will give back to the community when they host a Crime Prevention Fun Day on 21 November.

Organiser Alvin Montgomer said local security companies and emergency services will be present to engage with the community to become more alert and ‘crime savvy’ in the area.

“As the festive season approaches, the crime rate increases. We hope this day will raise awareness about crime so that people would know what to do should they find themselves in dangerous situations,” Alvin said.

The fun day is an initiative to bring the community together and promote unity.

“The main aim of the event is also to give to charity.” People are requested to donate any non-perishable food, clothing and toiletries and either bring it along on the day or deliver it at 14 Doris Street, Horizon view.

The charities that will benefit from the event is Sparrow Aids Village and the Roodepoort Sentrum vir Bejaardes.

The event will take place at 9am and the venue is yet to be confirmed.
