Queen Butterfly spreads wings

New centre for children with disabilities

A new centre for children with disabilities celebrated its Opening Day at the NG Kerk in Kloofendal recently.

The Queen Butterfly Foundation has been established to address the growing need on the West Rand for centers which cater for children with severe mental and physical disabilities.

Queen Butterfly founder and Principal Palesa Mofokeng said the centre may serve to take the pressure off existing organisations who have growing waiting lists.

The N.G. Kerk in Kloofendal offered to provide the foundation with a venue from which to start.

It was an evening of miracles as Mofokeng received cheques totaling R100,000 from Atlantis Mining and Mark and Debi Johnstone in their personal capacity.

“This much-needed injection of financial assistance has breathed life into our bank account and has allowed us to obtain much needed physiotherapy equipment and pay staff salaries for the next few months. A big thank you to all Friends of the Butterfly who donated their time and effort on our Opening Day to help them get off to a strong,” she said.
