GALLERY: Maragon School pupil scores more bullets

Hermanus van Staden, a pupil at Maragon Private Schools performed well at the South African National School Shooters’ Annual Championship competition.

According to Maragon marketing manager Belinda Espag, the Gauteng Schools Shooting Union (GSSU) announced the shooting team on 15 August 2015.

Espag said Van Staden is a member of the U14-A sporter age group team.

She said his team competed for four days in October at a shooting range near Hartebeespoort Dam in Brits.

Van Staden competed in all the GSSU matches and was able to obtain higher scores.

She said six GSSU league matches were held in which Van Staden competed, as well as the two interprovincial North Gauteng Trials that took

place on 6–7 March 2015 and 17–18 July 2015, respectively.

In the trials for the international tour (GSSU) that took place on 27–28 March 2015 in Gauteng, Van Staden won two gold medals and one individual bronze medal.

She said he finished in fourth place overall out of 58 U14 sporter class shooters countrywide and also obtained a personal best overall score.

Espag said he received the gold medals for best U14 sporter team nationwide and the best overall provincial team.

On 10 October Van Staden also competed in the South African Air Rifle Association (SAARA) SA Championships.
