STRUBEN'S VALLEY – Educational tips and tricks on homeopathic ways to clean outdoor appliances, are given to domestic workers.

Hirsch’s in Struben’s Valley held a training course for domestic workers on 13 October, providing them with handy tips for cleaning around the household.

The course was run by Hirsch’s and Lizzies Maids for the second time in as many months. The focus this time round was on outdoor maintenance: how to care for wooden furniture, braai grids, acrylic plastic garden furniture and other outdoor appliances.

“I learned a new handy way on how to clean a braai stand. I will be using that way from now on,” said Anna Chabane, one of the course trainees.

The aim of the course is to enrich the knowledge of domestic workers on effective cleaning methods around the house that are not commonly known by people.

These included homeopathic methods that benefit the environment and are not as costly as cleaning agents.

The course will run again in November and is open to domestic workers and their employers.

“There is always a good turnout to the course and it has helped many households,” said Lizzies Maids co-owner Adele Guthrie.

“I feel this course is important because it helps the community as it educates them on new concepts of cleaning,” she concluded.
