Support Dorcas Aid

Last year they provided 550 276 meals to the poor in various areas.

Dorcas Aid who assists about 3 800 poverty stricken people in the area every month, needs donations.

The non-profit organisation (NPO) supports about 67 charities in various areas in Johannesburg.

Not only do they assist young children but also elderly people, physically and mentally disabled individuals and destitute people of different religions and races.

We usually hand out food and food parcels to the people but sometimes we include blankets, clothing, household items and funds for the small projects we do,” said Dorcas Aid fundraiser Nerine Niemand.

The NPO also focuses on soup kitchens, old aged homes, feeding schemes, early childhood development centres, day care centres, churches and safe havens.

Last year they provided 550 276 meals to the poor in various areas.

“There is absolutely nothing in the world more fulfilling than a smile of appreciation in someone’s eyes, when you hand them a small gift of kindness,” Nerine said.

The donations in need are:

• All clothing

• Household items

• Electrical goods

• Books

• Music cd’s

•Toys

• Furniture

•Electronic goods

•Office equipment

•Stationary,

•Linen

•Garden tools

•Any financial donations

All proceeds the NPO makes from their Charity Shop is used for their work with the poor and social care projects.
