Three injured in accidental shooting
Two security guards and a customer were injured this afternoon after a gun accidentally went off.
The incident occurred at Makro in Strubens Valley.
According to ER24 and VitalMed, the perpetrator had a gun in his bag.
When the bag fell on the floor, the gun went off and the bullet accidentally hit three people. Two security personnel and a member of the public was shot in the lower region of the leg.
“Various private medical services were on scene to assist”the injured people. They treated the patients for minor injuries and transported them to different hospitals. The incident was not an attempted robbery of any kind,” said ER24 spokesperson Pieter Roosouw.
According to the spokesperson for Honeydew Police, Karen Jacobs, the man is currently at the Honeydew Police station for questioning and he will probably be charged with attempted murder. “The intention was not to shoot anybody,” Jabobs said and added the bag where the gun was in, is specifically designed to hold a firearm.
