Keep up to date with the court cases that are taking place at the Randburg Magistrates’ Court.
• Anthony Strauss (39) is accused of murdering Luresha Govender (36) on 30 December last year. He allegedly strangled her with an electrical cable (extension cord) while working on repairs around her house in Paulshof. The case was postponed to 8 October.
• The Linden Police officer accused of raping a 25-year-old detainee at the Linden Police Station on 28 June was last seen in court on 19 August. The case was postponed and he will appear in court on 16 October.
• Sindiswe Manqele is accused of the murder of SA rap artist Nkululeko ‘Flabba’ Habedi who died on 9 March. The case has been overseen by Judge Sithole. It will continue on 16 October.
• The case involving the death of former Top Billing presenter Simba Mhere and his passenger Kady-Shady O’Bryan will finally go to trial on 29 and 30 October. Mhere and O’Bryan were killed in a vehicle collision near the William Nicol Drive and N1 off-ramp on 31 January. The driver of the other vehicle, Preshalin Naidoo, has appeared in court several times.
